June 22nd was my best friend, Tawni Martino’s 23rd birthday. For the first time in two years I was actually in the country to celebrate with her. HELL YES.
I’m pretty sure the girl has had her birthday planned for a few months because when I asked her what her birthday plan was, she immediately knew where and what she wanted to do. I was expecting to get the usual ‘I’m not really sure, I was thinking of doing….or……maybe….’ Nope. Tawn knew. I suppose this shouldn’t surprise me based on the type of organized and OCD person she is.
Tawni wanted to go to LA Safari Wine. Based on her love of wine and zebras, this place was made for her. We took a limo to LA Safari to avoid drunk driving (be smart humans) which was a party in itself. Two bottles of champagne and a few shots of vodka later we had arrived two sheets to the wind and ready to continue drinking. We signed a release, I nearly broke my ankle trying to get to the jeep, but all was well and we were on our way to begin tasting fabulous wine.
Our first stop was to feed the buffalo, horses and zebras. I immediately went towards the zebras, but the male zebra was a bit aggressive and feisty so after nearly saying goodbye to my hand by way of zebra lunch (exaggeration) I decided to bond with the horse.
We made our way to the first set of wines which were reeeeaaaalllllllyyy good. Three different white wines, one stop. I didn’t really listen to our guide because I was busy taking selfies with Leslie and her go pro.
Moving on to the second stop of the tour, we finally had a bathroom break, beautiful views of the property and were blessed with yummy reds and crackers (hungry ladies). But in all seriousness the views were phenomenal….
At this point our wine expedition was over, but the fun wasn’t over! We hopped back in our limo and headed to Malibu Wines to purchase a few bottles of the good stuff and take a billion photos.
Our last stop on Tawni’s birthday bananza was Malibu Farms for din where we learned they don’t serve french fries with burgers because they ‘don’t do fried foods’ (I really do adore Los Angeles). It was still delicious.
Tawni’s roomie, Nate ended the night with a bang and solidified my sleepover by bringing home California donuts sending my body into what I believe to be sugar overload. My body hasn’t felt that weird in a very long time.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINHOLE – I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!
