I was always envious of the people who could take blank pages and make the most beautiful and engaging images with just a few clicks of their mouse and a few adjustments on a spacebar. When an Editing and Production course became an option as a module, I knew I had to take it. I wanted magic to happen with a few clicks on my mouse.
Unfortunately, the image in my head of me looking fabulous and cool, clicking away to create whatever my heart desired quickly faded away. I realised there was no such thing as looking cool, calm and collected while using Photoshop and Indesign. It dawned on me that it would never take a few clicks on my mouse for my dream image to appear.
All jokes aside, taking the Editing and Production course at Leeds Beckett has been one of my better decisions. Learning the ins and outs of Photoshop and InDesign will benefit me and make me a rounded candidate throughout my career (I hope? Hire me, please).
For my final assessment I was required to take a blank page, and design six magazine layouts using Photoshop and InDesign from scratch. This was definitely one of my favourite final assessments. The stress was worth it!
Here are my favourites:
I think I’m funny so I made this one on my own time. Hi Drake.
Obviously my favourite part of having these skills is when I have kids I’ll be the ‘cool mom’ because I can make my kids better birthday party invitations than Jan down the block. More jokes.
